Case Study: Luxury Standard Refurbishment – Central London

Project Overview

This project involved the full refurbishment of a tired and outdated bathroom in a modern Central London flat. The existing space, though functional, lacked aesthetic appeal and felt cramped and clinical (see before image). The goal was to elevate it into a high-end, spa-style retreat that blended minimalist design with premium finishes—delivering both elegance and practicality.

Before the Transformation

  • Basic beige tiles, over-bath shower, and dated sanitaryware
  • Cluttered vanity area with no real focal point
  • Poor lighting and lack of cohesion in design

Key Goals

✅ Maximise Sense of Space – Remove the bath and replace with a large walk-in shower to open up the room
✅ Introduce Spa-like Features – Mood lighting, soft neutral tones, and high-end fixtures
✅ Modern Functionality – Wall-hung vanity, walk-in rainfall shower, built-in shelf recess, and concealed pipework
✅ Cohesive Design Language – Repeated finishes, symmetry, and elegant accents for a visually calming space

The Transformation

1. Walk-in Shower with Luxury Fixtures

  • Removed the bathtub and installed a frameless glass walk-in enclosure (Images 2–6)
  • Ceiling-mounted rainfall showerhead with separate handheld wand for flexibility
  • Recessed shower shelf built into the tiled wall for clean, clutter-free storage

2. Designer Vanity & Lighting

  • Custom floating vanity unit with a deep basin and push-to-open drawers (Image 2)
  • Statement backlit round mirror creates a soft glow and adds a focal point to the space
  • Shelf with natural timber finish adds warmth and contrast to the cool-toned tilework

3. Textured Tilework & Elegant Hardware

  • Full-height tiling in large format stone-effect porcelain for a sleek, seamless look
  • Elegant matte brass towel rail adds a subtle vintage nod (Image 6)
  • Coordinated fittings in brushed nickel and black accents to keep the scheme modern

4. Lighting & Ventilation

  • Recessed spotlights throughout, ensuring bright but soothing light
  • Integrated fan system discreetly installed into the ceiling (Image 3)

Results

✔ Instantly modernised the flat’s overall feel
✔ Created a bathroom that’s luxurious, low-maintenance, and high-impact
✔ Strong appeal for young professionals, corporate tenants, and owner-occupiers
✔ A value-adding upgrade in a highly desirable Central London postcode
